Forensic Interview Services

Forensic interviews are conducted at the Child Advocacy Center when DCS, the court system or law enforcement suspects severe physical or sexual abuse. A forensic interview is a specialized method of interviewing children that uses a specific protocol to ensure the interview is legally sound, of a neutral, fact-finding nature and is coordinated to avoid duplicative interviewing. The benefits of forensic interviews include:  preventing further trauma by multiple contact with different professionals; providing consistent interviewing methods that follow a tested protocol; effecting legally defensible interviews; utilizing techniques based on updated research; providing a safe, nurturing environment for the child with less stress on the victim and family; and reducing the number of interviews.
